George III Sterling Silver Coffeepot,
fine baluster form body with allover elaborate hand-chased floral design and rocaille motif, engraved crest to cartouche on one side, the body bearing London hallmarks and a partially rubbed sponsor's mark, the hinged lid bearing a lion passant and double stamped sponsor's mark of "I.Y" in a rectangular punch (possibly that of James Young, active fourth quarter of the 18th c.), the cast and applied hollow handle with scrolled thumb guard and ivory spacers bears ca. 1808 London hallmarks (likely a replacement handle). 29.25 troy ozs. 12" Estimate $1000 - 2000 Condition reportSmall fissure in the lid, possibly replaced handle. Overall a very pleasing form of exquisite workmanship.
