watercolor and ink wash on paper, depiction of a couple (probably Napoleon III and the Empress) riding in an open carriage. Matted under glass, contemporary gilt frame. Guys was a French Realist Illustrator (1808-1892), nicknamed "The Painter of Modern Life," his subjects are people of the Second French Empire. SS 8.25" x 12"; DOA 14.5" x 18.25" From a private 30 year Americana Collection. Estimate $600 - 900 Condition reportSmall tear to upper center, probably laid to the foam core at the upper edge. Not examined out of the frame.
