Bassett Family, worked in silk on loosely woven linen ground in gold, green, and blue; three sided floral and leaf border; central reserve with family registry with bird and vine surround; verse below with alphabet bands. The family information provided on the sampler gives John Bassett (b. October 18, 1792) and Juliana Williams (b. November 3, 1796), married September 17, 1817, as the parents of four children, all whose birth dates are inscribed. Research shows the family from North Haven, New Haven, Connecticut. Children listed are Hermon W., Julia (b. 1821- d.1826), Julia (b. 1828), and Lydia (b. 1829). SS 16.75" x 16.25"; DOA 17.5" x 17" Housed in a narrow walnut frame.
