American scrimshaw pan bone panel,

finely decorated with two ships flying American flags and spread-wing eagle device, fitted in early silver frame (tests .800), mid 19th century, 8 x 14 in. Good condition with warping and minor staining to panel, minor surface abrasions and scratches; silver frame missing two corner brackets and probably later, apparently unmarked. Provenance: The Estate of the Late Parker B. Poe to Benefit the Thomasville Cultural Center, Thomasville, Georgia
