Fine French Empire barometer,

octagonal carved gilt wood and composition frame with large trophy crest, painted wood barometer dial on pale blue ground, inscribed "Salon Coricelly", original backboards, early 19th century, 37-1/2 x 22 x 4 in. Extensive losses and distress to crest appliqué, appliqués with later bracing, paint retouch to gilding, other chips and losses, one repaired area on frame, barometer panel cracked, some fading and stains, one possible retouch, lacking glass tube. Provenance: The Estate of the Late Charles D. and Elizabeth Read Cunningham, Asheville, North Carolina
