A pair of molded low-fired ceramic figures of a boy and girl riding horses. The girl looks like Little Red Riding Hood and the boy could be from a nursery rhyme too. They are in very good shape and are well painted and molded.
The figures have been well finished and they barely show the mold lines. The figures have many details, such as stripes on the man’s pants, the horse’s hair and tail, and details on the grass. They have an unglazed foot with a glazed base. They are hand painted with that quick naive style. The glaze is thin. There is a small hole on the back on both and a hole on the base of the girl’s figure that was part of the firing process. They have a nice weight to them.
The boy’s base has the words MADE IN ENGLAND and the girl’s base has just the word ENGLAND stamped in red.
