Browder and Heller were expelled from the Party in 1946. From the tone of Browder's letters, Heller appears to have begun to question the wisdom of his and Browder's views. Browder's answers are detailed and thoughtful, evidencing a continuing commitment to the validity and orthodoxy of his views on the proper role for the CPUSA.
