Description: [i]-xiii, [8], 231 pp. Frontispiece map; two-color title page and decorative headpieces. 8¼x6, original red buckram back, pictorial boards stamped in gilt, red and green, cover and spine lettered in gilt, top edge green. First Edition.James D. Phelan's copy, with his bookplate on front pastedown; Phelan was mayor of San Francisco (1897-1901) and a U.S. senator (1905-1921).
