Description: Original pen & ink & watercolor wash drawing on architectural linen. 8x13 plus margins, top corners taped to backing board.Well-rendered view of the small mining town in Nevada, by the artist and cartographer George H. Goddard. Born in England in 1817, Goddard came to California for gold in 1850, but finding mining too arduous an activity he soon turned to draughtsmanship, producing many town and city views and maps. He has initialed and dated the present view in the lower margin, and inscribed it "Rutha Buchanan," evidently a presentation.
