The second volume contains articles relating to America's westward expansion, including the annexation of Texas, the first printing of Albert Pike's manuscript journal relating to his trip on the Upper Missouri in 1805-06, activities of Josiah Gregg in California, and reports from a Texas agent in New Mexico.
