Title: Pictorial lettersheet with map of the Hawaiian Islands, and handwritten letter

Description: Single sheet of lightly lined paper, 9¾x7½, with wood-engraved map on top portion of 1st page; letter on bottom portion of both sides.A man writes to his son Chauncey, "I am sitting on the shady verandah outside my room. The thermometer was 80° yesterday but it is much cooler today... The ladies wear long loose dress without any belt, and some of the natives wear hardly any clothes. ..." Though the letter is dated 1886, the sheet with map is apparently from an earlier date.
