Author: Langford, Nathaniel Pitt Description: xxxi, [1], 122 pp. Illustrated from photographs, sketches, etc. 8x5½, blue cloth with pictorial cover pictorial, gilt lettered, top edge gilt. First Edition.Presentation copy, with an inscription on front free endpaper "Mark Leadbetter, Compliments of Nathaniel P. Langford. St Paul, July 17, 1907." Graff notes that the first edition had the rubberstamped imprint of J.E. Haynes, St. Paul, MN. This copy is without the stamp and presumably an early issue. Langford was on the important Washburn expedition to Yellowstone, and in 1872 he became the first superintendent of the National Park there, serving until 1877.
