Description: xvi, 198 pp. Lacks list of plates at rear. Illustrated with 7 steel-engraved plates and a folding frontispiece map "Chart of Hudson's Strait & Sir Thos. Rowe's Welcome showing the Track & Discoveries of H.M.S. Griper in…Repulse Bay…1824." 8vo 8¾x5½, modern morocco backed marbled boards, red morocco lettering piece. First Edition.Another attempt at the Northwest Passage; this one through Hudson Bay. Interesting accounts are given of the Eskimos of the Southampton Islands, immediately north of Hudson Bay. Also contained are an appendix concerning magnetic anomalies in the polar regions, an Abstract of each day's work, and a botanical appendix by Professor J.D. Hooker. The plates were engraved by Edward Finden after drawings by Lyon and Kendall. Sabin 42851; Arctic Bib. 10530; Hill, p.186.
