Description: Copper-engraved map, later hand-coloring. 40x50 cm. (15¾x20")Attractive map of the classical world, borrowed from Ortelius' map of sixty years earlier. Europe, Asia, and Africa as far south as Madagascar are placed at the center of a much larger oval frame, with the climatic zones marked. This is the first state, with dedication cartouche blank.
