Title: Typed, Signed Letter from Jack London to Mr. C.Gallup
Author: London, Jack Description: Single sheet bond paper, 12 lines, typed, on recto only. 7x7½. Signed in ink at conclusion of letter by Jack LondonHumorous letter to an autograph seeker whom London had apparently previously brushed off: "Mr. C. Gallup, Dear sir: - You put your case very well, but you put my case very well too, when you speak of the so-called collectors, full ninety-five per cent. of which are boys and girls, who get the fever on Monday, cool off by Wednesday, are are cured by Saturday. How the deuce was I to know that you were not one of the boys or girls? How the deuce was I to know that you were as old as you are? How the deuce was I to know that you were a socialist, who still speaks out in meeting, and is called an Anarchist by some damned fool who doesn't know the difference? Here's the autograph, and I'll sign this letter, and that'll make two, full measure, you see. Sincerely yours, Jack London."
