Title: The Call of the Wild
Author: London, Jack Description: [5]-231, [1] + [2] ad pp. Illustrated by Philip R. Goodwin and Charles Livingston Bull with 18 monochrome plates, including frontispiece, pictorial endpapers, page decorations by Charles E. Hooper. Decorative vertically ribbed green cloth, lettered in light green, inset monochrome pictorial plate on cover. Tenth Printing.Inscribed by Jack London to his sister on the half-title: "Dear Ida - with loving best wishes from your brother, Jack London, Glen Ellen, Calif., Feb. 2, 1906." During this time, London was on a lecture tour through the midwest. The ink inscription in his bold hand covers most of the page and reflects the affection London had for his younger sister. With a laid-in sepia postcard of the Londons' ranch home in Glen Ellen, from Ida Byrne (her married name) to Mrs. Alice Slade in San Francisco, postmarked Glen Ellen 1913. Material inscribed to Jack London's immediate family is quite rare; a desirable, personal relic of the London family. Heading: Place Published: New York Publisher: Grosset and Dunlap Date Published: 1905 Condition reportLeaning slightly, spine tips bumped; covers lightly worn, light scratches to cover plate, rear cover spotted; postcard has remnants of black paper from an old scrapbook obscuring much of the message, address and postmark; overall, very good.
