First Edition.With the autograph slogan "I would be ashes rather than dust" signed and dated August 22, 1903 by Jack London on front free endpaper. Olive Percival's copy with her bookplates to front and rear pastedowns and her signature at top of front free endpaper. Olive Percival (1868-1945) was the well-known Southern California author and book collector whose collection of early English and American children's books is now part of the Children's Book Collection at UCLA.
