Title: A Daughter of the Snows
Author: London, Jack Description: 334 + [2] ad pp. Illustrated with 4 color plates, including frontispiece, by Frederick C. Yohn. Red cloth lettered in white, cover illustration in white, gilt & green. First Edition.Inscribed and signed on front free endpaper: "Dear Trude - You know what I know, and I know what you know; and herewith know that I know you know I know. Jack London. Oakland, October 17, 1904." "Trude" is likely Gertrude Partington, sister of Blanche Partington, with whom Jack had a brief love affair before committing his attentions solely to Charmian. The three Partington sisters (Phyllis was the other) and brother John were part of the London's Oakland social circle. Mounted on the front pastedown is a silver print photograph, 4¾x3¾, of a young, rather long-haired Jack London, in full figure and dressed all in white. BAL 11874; Sisson & Martens, p. 9.
