Blue cloth lettered in pale green on front cover, in gilt on spine; cover illustration in blue, yellow, and green, top edge gilt. In custom slipcase. Third Printing, February, 1906.Inscribed by Jack London to San Francisco-born artist and noted California painter, Charles Rollo Peters (1862-1928). Peters studied with Jules Tavernier at the School of Design later at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris before settling in Monterey: "To Charles Rollo Peters:- 'What for talkee talkee? You no sabbe talkee talkee?' - page 30. Jack London. September 14, 1906." A compelling association copy of one of London's most "California" books: stories from Jack's youth; first as an oyster pirate and then agent of the Fish Patrol on San Francisco Bay.
