Autograph of Holy Roman Emperor Francis I

Francis I (1708-1765) Holy Roman Emperor from 1740 to 1765. ADS on vellum being an ennoblement document for Sasso Marie Joseph Sassi of Florence and family. Document measures 19 1/4" x 32" is calligraphied and features a large initial letter "F" with eagle and gold leaf embellishments. Document also features a hand drawn and colored coat of arms under fold at lower right. Attached to document is large red wax seal in gilt brass holder (missing lid) measuring 5 1/2" in diameter. Reverse of brass holder features heavy chiseled design of coat of arms of the Holy Roman Emperor and the words "DEO ET IMPERIO" (for God and the Empire). Document was signed October 1756 with seal attached on November 13, 1756. Document exhibits folding with some wear to ink and fraying/breakage to seal cord. Shipping: $120.00 plus insurance.
