Philip H. Sheridan (1831-1888) Noted 19th century American military officer and Civil War general. ADS n.d. being a vellum membership certificate for the "Society of the Army of the Potomac" for Brigadier General John M. Wilson, chief of engineers. Document signed by Sheridan as president of the society and W.C. Church as secretary of the society. Document measures 10 1/2" x 12 1/4" (sight) with bend at lower part of document. Housed in period frame measuring 17" x 18 1/2". John M. Wilson (1837-1919) was a Union Army engineer and later served as Chief of Engineers and Superintendent of the United States Military Academy at West Point from 1889-1893. He was a awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions at Malvern Hill during the Civil War. Shipping: $30.00 plus insurance.
