Rare early 1900's WINDY CITY stoneware picher and mugs with blue glazed and embossed designs of a Gibson Girl buffeted by the wind, presumably on Chicago's streets with the FLATIRON building portrayed on the reverse. This rare set is enhanced by the blue underglaze stamp that confirms this was a premium advertising as it reads MADE IN GERMANY FOR M FRIEDMAN & CO. , 237 POST ST,. SAN FRANCISCO THE BIGGEST FURNITURE HOUSE ON THE PACIFIC COAST. all in a circular stamp. Mugs measure 5.5 inches and the pitcher measures 8.5 inches. Excellent condition, see condition report. See lot 1165 for Blue and Gray stoneware with similar advertising. $22 shipping, plus $1.10 per hundred insurace, will combine multiple items.
Condition reportExcellent condition with no chips, cracks , repairs or abuse, one much does have a factory glaze pop on one rim and another mug has what appears to be a bruise with a fractured piece still in place never separated. The typical factory flaws glazed over.
