Williamson Co., Tennessee side chair, attributed to Richard Poyner school of chair makers. Consisting of arched slats, mule ear back stiles with single peg at the top of back stiles. Refer to Rick Warrick's Williamson Co., TN book for similar examples. Richard Poyner was a slave who purchased his freedom in the 1850s and prolific chair maker in Williamson County, TN. Very good condition, appears to retain the original seat. 33" H x 17 1/2" W x 13 1/2" D. 19th century.
