Early Cumberland County, Tennessee blanket chest, Crab Orchard area. Walnut paneled chest with delicately turned feet, interior till. Yellow pine secondary wood. Applied molding on top appears to retain the original hinges. Condition - molding on left side is missing, top for interior till split. Acquired from the estate of Mrs. Nellie T. Beeson who was a descendant of the Baker family, one of the earliest settlers of Crab Orchard. 26" H x 48" W x 18 1/2" D . Second quarter of 19th century.
