Two (2) colored stipple engravings. 1st item - Colored stipple engraving after Angelica Kauffman and Le Grand, titled "Dancing Nymph", " Paris chez Mme Breton". Lower margin with "No. 16". Matted and hinge mounted. Condition - browning to margins from age, a couple of minor foxing spots, slight crease to lower bottom of image. 11 1/2" x 16 3/4" margins. Matted and hinge mounted. Late 18th century. 2nd item - Colored stipple engraving after Angelica Kauffman and F. Barolozzi, titled "Cornelia Mother of the Gracchi". Lower margin reads, " Publithd. Nov 1788 by M. Ryland...New Bond Street" Condition - very good condition with expected aging, a couple of slight foxing spots. 7 1/2" x 8 1/2" margins. Matted and hinge mounted. Circa 1788. Note - Margaret Lindsley Warden notes in her typed inventory this engraving was purchased by Dr. John Berrien Lindsley of Nashville during a European tour of the 1850s. These engravings were shown at an art exhibition in June 1945 at 1806 E. Belmont Circle. Several of Margaret's engravings were later exhibited at the Parthenon Gallery in 1954, but it is unknown if this engraving was part of this exhibit. Lindsley Warden estate.
