Fine English burl wood press cabinet, stamped " Gillow ". Highly figured burl walnut veneers with mahogany secondary wood and paneled back. Dovetailed gallery top, two drawers with brass locks stamped "J. Brahmah, 124 Picadilly" right hand drawer stamped "Gillow". Small tag "604". Gillows was one of the pre-eminent British cabinetmaking companies of the 18th and 19th centuries. Paneled doors open to interior fitted with adjustable shelves and four dovetailed drawers. Plinth base. Overall good condition with scattered shrinkage cracks, abrasions, minor veneer chips and stains to top. Hole cut in back for cord. Original pulls. 51 1/4" height x 57 1/2" width x 24" depth. 19th century.
