(folio) 11¼x7½, early calf, rebacked with original spine strip laid on, new endpapers.Rare, early, and significant edition of Chaucer's Works, the greatest of all medieval works of English literature and foundation of all that came after. There were four variants of this printing, with different publisher's names listed in the colophon, but the colophon is not present in this copy. STC 5071. Heading: Place Published: [London] Publisher: Date Published: c.1550 Condition reportSome soiling and moderate dampstaining to contents, lacking approx. 24 leaves including A1, A5-6, D2, P5-6, Q1-3, Aa1, Oo5-6, Pp1-6, Qq1-6. 10 leaves at the end, and about 6 other leaves, defective most having lower corners missing causing loss of text; top margins trimmed close at times; generally very good save for the missing and defective leaves, sold with all faults.
