Framed oil on canvas, Ex-voto depicting Nuns with the Sacred Heart of Christ and the Jesuit Patron Luis Gonzaga, Spanish Colonial, 18th Century, inscription at lower edge reads: ''Encomieden a Dios a la Sra. Echonoma, Ano 1787,'' sight (oval): 32''h x 23''w, overall: 37''h x 28''w. Note: This painting depicts nuns from the same religious order as that of Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz of the San Geronimo convent (Mexico City). Each heart is inscribed with the individual names of the nuns. Provenance: Collection of Marques del Jaral de Berrio; to Sra. Hanna Reissman de Behrens (member of the Board of Directors of the Museo Franz Mayer until 1996); to a private collection (Contra Costa County, CA).
