[English Literature.] [John Hepwith] "THE CALLIDONIAN FORREST" Manuscript in Elizabethan style italic script with ruled frame lines, on laid paper characteristic of the first half 17th Century, comprising 21 leaves including the cover sheet. (A satire against the Duke of Buckingham and several other political figures of the time, the poem is reported to have circulated in manuscript only for several years before its publication in London in 1641.)

First leaf dusted, chipped around edges and detached. Internal leaves with smudging and other wear. Last leaf tattered at edges and dusted.
