The print depicts James Fenimore Cooper centrally standing before a seated Washington Irving, Henry Cullen Bryant, and Longfellow. Also depicted are Harriet Beecher Stowe, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Hawthorne, Emerson, Lowell and Whittier. [With:] "Key to Hicks' Picture 'Authors of the United States." Lists all the depicted authors.
