CIVIL WAR - HOOD'S TEXAS BRIGADE. Houston Telegraph. Supplemtne [sic] ... Gen. Hood's Reports. Houston: 9 March 1863. Newspaper extra, 2 pp. on a single sheet (305 x 190 mm). Unbound, as issued. hood's accounts of gaines's mill, rappahannock station, second bull run and antietam. This extra, printed on yellowed Confederate necessity printing paper (made from the husks of corn), includes two communications by Hood dated 10 July and 28 September 1862. The first is a report on the Confederate victory at the Battle of Gaines' Mill (27 June 1862) and the latter a lengthy and detailed one on the brigade's service at the first Battle of Rappahannock Station (22-25 Aug 1862), Second Bull Run (28-30 Aug 1862) and the bloody Battle of Antietam (17 Sept 1862).
