CIVIL WAR - Wallpaper Newspaper. The Weekly Junior Register. Franklin, LA: 9 May 1863. Edited by J. C. White and C. G. Wing. Vol. 2., No. 18. 2 pp., printed on the same side of a folded sheet of tan wallpaper decorated in a green and white floral pattern (510 x 280 mm). Text in 4 columns. Contemporary manuscript inscription above the masthead: "Precious Paper. Confederate paper until Franklin fell into our possession April 14th. When the Editor discovered his mistake took the oath of allegiance & favored the cause of 'Uncle Sam.'" Condition: restoration repairing paper losses, principally at folds and along the right edge. rare wallpaper newspaper from union-occupied franklin louisiana, shortly after the battle of irish bend. Only two Union issues of the Weekly Junior Register were published on wallpaper (2 May and 9 May 1863). Prior to those issues, three Confederate wallpaper issues were published by White & Wing in that same year (12 February, 26 February and 25 April).
