HORTICULTURE - Stecher Litho. Co. Nursery trade catalogue containing 59 chromolithographed plates of apples, pears, peaches, grapes, etc. Rochester: c. 1890. Oblong 8vo (132 x 220 mm). 59 chromolithographed plates, some finished by hand, some with overslips correcting text. Contemporary morocco, upper cover stamped in gilt with the name of the nursery. Condition: some soiling and staining, most plates clean; binding rebacked to style. Provenance: C. W. Stuart & Co., Newark N. Y. (name in gilt on the upper cover). A nice example of a Stecher catalogue. "Selections of these plates were used as illustrated catalogues by travelling salesmen who peddled the stock of the nurseries they represented" (Raphael).
