[Paris: 1744]. Engraved map (330 x 250 mm). Hand-colored. Condition: some browning and spotting, small tears in the left margin. early plan of the french quarter and its shorefront along the mississippi river showing the locations of buildings, parks, roads, and quays. At the top of the map a lettered key indicates specific points of interest. Bellin's map is based upon the sketches of Pierre François Xavier de Charlevoix. This version of the plan was extracted from the German edition of the atlas accompanying Prévost's Histoire Generale des Voyages.
