N.p.: c. 1890. Boudoir card (image size 120 x 196 mm; card 133 x 25 mm). With printed paper labels reading "Coldner & Pollock" and "Elk Point, S. D." mounted to foot of card, pencil notation reading "24 loads of hogs" to head of card. Condition: lightly soiled, pencil notation, corners lightly rubbed. early photograph of this south dakota town depicting the town of Elk Point with several horse-drawn wagons and assemblage of men. Visible in the picture is the "Lead[er] Off[ice]," the office of the Elk Point Leader newspaper, established in 1870. The notation of "24 loads of hogs" is elusive, but a hog is visible in the first wagon.
