Bound in publisher's green cloth, gilt to upper cover. Condition: binding loose, some chipping to pages (not affecting images), rubbing to extremities, intermittent spotting. first edition of this rare account by the commanding officer during a siege in what is now North-Eastern Afghanistan. Sale held the Afghan forces at bay for 5 months before finally going on the offensive and pushing them back to Kabul.
