Engraved frontispiece. Folding map and 7 engraved plates, 3 with tissue guards. Contemporary marbled boards with leather backstrip, spine with gilt bands and red morroco lettering label in gilt, all edges stained green. Condition: map with slight offset from fold, light foxing throughout, most prominent at preliminaries and plates, front hinge cracked with text block detaching; boards lightly rubbed, spine rubbed, wear to extremities. Provenance: John Wordsworth (1836 gift inscription to front pastedown); Hugh Craggs (bookplate). first edition with map detailing the area covered while searching for north-west passage. [With:] FISHER, Alexander. A Journal of a Voyage of Discovery to the Arctic Regions, in His Majesty's Ships HECLA and GRIPER, in the Years 1819 & 1820. London: Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme, and Brown, 1821. 8vo (225 x 150 mm). 2 maps (on folding) and in-text engravings. Original blue boards strengthened with a modern green backstrip.
