RICHARD RUSH, Secretary of Treasury and State. Autograph Note Signed "Richard Rush," in brown ink on note paper, no date, no location, c. 1825, 2.75" x 4.25", Very Fine. The short inscription reads: "I have the honor to be, with great respect, your obt. ser't..." Vertical fold and light stain. Rush (1780-1859) was the son of Benjamin Rush, a signer of the Declaration. Richard served as comptroller of the U.S. Treasury, attorney general of the U.S., U.S. secretary of state; minister to Great Britain, secretary of the treasury, and minister to France.
