Early "Commodore Vanderbilt" Signed Document

"COMMODORE" CORNELIUS VANDERBILT, Steamship and Railroad Promoter and Entrepreneur.
An early steamboat document dated July 24, 1828, Autograph Note Signed, "CV", as an agent for Thomas Gibbons, NY, 7.75" x 8" document, Very Fine. Cornelius Vanderbilt approves an accounting for a pile driver at Elizabethtown point: "the above is correct at $38 - 12, Capt. Bliss will pay the above...". Document is docketed on the back. An interesting item from this important early period of Vanderbilt's career.

Cornelius Vanderbilt (1794-1877), also known as "The Commodore," or "Commodore Vanderbilt," was an American entrepreneur who built his wealth in shipping and railroads and was the patriarch of the Vanderbilt family.
