War of 1812
c. 1812 Albany NY Manuscript Militia Company Return c. 1812, Manuscript Document, Albany, New York, Militia Company Muster Roll, Fine. This original, undated document, measuring 11.75" x 7.5," and believed to date to the War of 1812, is headed, "Roll at the Company of Infantry Communicated by Capt. D. S. Morse in Albany, NY." What follows is a listing of the men enrolled under Captain Morse's command, and a table listing the military equipment each had received. These equipment items include muskets, bayonets, flints, cartridge boxes, knapsacks, canteens and other items. Only 7 of the 2 dozen or so men listed had received their equipment, indicating that this unit was just being formed. There are some typical folds, with some separations, otherwise this document is complete and easily readable. A great American Military History Document.
