War of 1812
War of 1812 Military Pay Account 21st Infantry Regiment

May 27, 1815, Manuscript Document, Detailing Money to be paid to Levi Cole for Military Service in the 21st Infantry Regiment during 1814 and 1815, Choice Very Fine.
This handwritten document, measuring 5.75" x 6.25," is an accounting of money to be paid by the U.S. Government to Levi Cole for 1 years service as a private in Joseph Thiat's company of the 21st Infantry Regiment. The itemized list shows he was paid $8 a month, plus two bounties totaling $74. He also received compensation for travel from Sacketts Harbor to Portsmouth, including 19 cents per day for food. After deductions for clothing, Private Cole received the princely sum of $138.69 for which he signed at the bottom. This document is in very nice condition, very lightly toned, with an uneven left edge and a small hole near the bottom. A great piece of American Military History.
