Civil War Union Documents
Civil War Union "Ordnance Office" Requisition 1864, Ordnance Office Requisition, and Treasurer's Report -- Third Corps Union, Lot of Two, Washington, D.C., Choice Very Fine. Partly-Printed Document, from the Ordnance Office/War Department, completed in manuscript and stamped with signature by George T. Balch, Captain of Ordnance, Assistant to Chief of Ordnance, April 6, 1864, Washington, D.C., 10" x 8." This document confirms that Col. H.J. Madell received "ordnance stores," the previous month, for which he is responsible. The second document is a printed "Treasurer's Report" signed in print by G. Mott, Brigadier General and Treasurer for the Third Corps Union, May 5, 1864, reporting that he received $3,876.90 in 1863 and spent that amount.
