Civil War Union Documents
Civil War "Bounty" Receipt for a Union Volunteer

March 9, 1864, County Bounty Receipt for Union Volunteer, Genesee County, NY, Choice Fine.
4" x 7.75", fine-laid, blue-lined paper. Written in brown ink by "R-- Fidinger," the father of a Union volunteer: "Recevd of ... the Town of Oakfield one Genesee County War Bond No 418 for my Son John C. Fidinger, a volunteer in the United States Service, and I do hereby Certify that I am authorized by him to receive the same..." Toned paper with minor staining, one large ink blotch partially obscuring two words, but still very legible overall.
