February 16, 1865, $100 "Bounty to Volunteers" Receipt, Choice Very Fine. 4.5" x 8.5," a pleasing, problem-free example of this popular type. Issued in Peru, Indiana, this official document records the obligation of a $100 bounty payable to Dennis Lee for volunteering in the Union Army. Three payments were made against this certificate - one for $40 in 1866, another for $20 in 1867, and a third for $25 in 1868.
