Black History 1881, African-American Composer's Sheet Music, New York, Choice Very Fine. 14" x 11" Printed sheet music, 6 pages, including insert, composed by James A. Bland, and published by Pauline Lieder, who owned the rights to this music. Metallic gold front cover features large, expressive typefaces announcing "America's Greatest Song Writer," James A. Bland. This music is titled "My Own Sweet Wife to Be." The sheet also includes advertisements on the inside page and back cover. Bland was one of the most talented and prolific African American composers of the late 19th century. Light toning and wear to edges. Scarce in this choice condition.
