This Partially-printed Treasury "Bearer" Note is completed in manuscript to "pay to (Revolutionary War) Maj. Rufus Graves or bearer, Thirty three Dollars & twelve Cents Lawful Money, out of the Treasury." Signed by "J. T. Gilman" as Governor. Though not listed in Newman, this form should be considered as "Lawful Money" having the the words "or bearer" printed upon this fiscal document. About 60% of this document remains intact, it having appearently been partially burnt in a fire, having traces of the burn along the bottom edge. Ornamental border designs otherwise, completed in dark brown ink manuscript. An extremely rare partial New Hampshire State Treasury "Bearer" Note.
John Taylor Gilman was both the Governor of the State of New Hampshire, as well as a Member of Congress from 1782-1783.
