ITALIAN RENAISSANCE STYLE CARVED WALNUT THRONE CHAIR, American or English, late 19th century, the shaped arched crest and back intricately carved and centering a round blue cushion over matching padded seat, the reverse similarly carved, the guilloche-carved arms ending in grotesque lion masks, each side a fully dimensional seated figure of a winged griffin. Dimensions: 45" H x 29.5" W x 28" D. Provenance: Property from the Estate of Robert Beeman Smith, Portland, OR. Reference: John Moran Auctioneers, Altadena, CA., lot #1024, July 24, 2007, matching chair with burgundy velvet covers sold for $2000.
