Extremely Fine and Rare Berks County, Pa. Hepplewhite Walnut and Burl Walnut Inlaid Chest on Chest. Upper section with ogee and cove molded cornice with double line inlay above open work dentil molding with double line inlay three over two split over two full width double line inlaid lip molded dovetailed drawers. Central upper drawer having a beautifully inlaid mirror image heart, tulips, berry, leaf and vine with fan corners. Lower section with two full width lip molded dovetailed drawers, chamfered corners with lamb's tongue stops, bowed skirt with heart, tulips and vine inlay and French bracket feet with line inlay. This chest on chest appears to be all original including the oval raised panel drop handle brasses. Some minor band inlay missing on returns under cove moldings and on waist, vertical line age separation on left base. This is one of the finest Pennsylvania Hepplewhite chest on chest to surface in a long time, 68-1/4" h. x 47" w. x 24-1/4" d. Provenance: Fred Seltzer Estate former Vice President of JCPenny, stone farm house in Millbach, Pa. Inherited from Dr. Grim & his wife Carrie, who's maiden name was Badorf formerly owned by John Batdorf, prominate Civil War figure.
