Rare 19th Century Grain Paint Decorated Seed Chest by John Boyer of Brickerville, Lancaster County, Pa., pine and various softwoods including cigar box woods, square nail, glue and rabbet joint construction rectangular form, slant top hinged lid with three interior compartments, case consists of sixteen square drawers stepped over a row of seven smaller square drawers, all drawers with appropriate original numbers, serpentine cut skirt, pointed arch cut out bracket feet, round porcelain pulls, light and dark brown faux crotched graining using brushwork, finger and rag graining techniques, on back in black "to Barbara", 22-½"h. x 19-¼"w. x 6-¼"d., (minor losses to painted surfaces and one scallop missing on skirt).
