Edvard Munch [after] (Norwegian, 1863 - 1944)

Herz (Hjertet).

Color woodcut. 1898-99. Excellent condition. Coated paper. Wide margins. Fine impression. Image size 7 1/2 x 5 9/16 in. (190 x 141 mm). Sheet size 11 7/8 x 8 9/16 in. (301 x 217 mm). This edition of this print was authorized by Munch for his friend and patron Dr. Max Linde c. 1905. It was not supervised by Munch, hence it is catalogued as “after,” since apparently Munch’s involvement was minimal, if any at all. It is an original color woodcut, not a photomechanical reproduction. It is not a copy. [S134].
